Advantages of poly phase induction motor

A 3 phase induction motor is an electromechanical device that converts electrical energy into mechanical energy that works based on the Electromagnetic induction principle.

Advantages:

• It has simple and rugged construction.
• It is relatively cheap.
• It has self-starting torque.
• It requires less maintenance.
• It has high efficiency and reasonably good power factor.
• Its speed control is easy by using semiconductor devices.

Disadvantages:

• Its starting torque is inferior to dc shunt motor.
• Speed decrease with increase in load.
