THEORY:
Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor (IGBT) is a three terminal device having a gate, collector and an emitter. They are widely used in medium power applications such as dc and ac motor devices, UPS systems, power supplies etc…Fig.1 shows the schematic view of an N-channel IGBT.
CIRCUIT DIAGRAM:
PROCEDURE:
Collector characteristics:
- Setup the circuit as per the circuit diagram.
- Keep the VGE at 5.5 V and vary VCE in equal steps and note down the collector current.
- Repeat it for various values of VGE.
Transfer characteristics:
- Setup the circuit as per the circuit diagram.
- Make VCE = 10V. Vary VGE in equal steps and note down ID.
RESULT:
The collector characteristics and transfer characteristics of IGBT are plotted.
