Smart Agriculture System

Abstract

Agriculture is the back bone of India. To make the sustainable agriculture, a reduced man power system is required with higher efficiency. In this proposal, a smart agricultural system is introduced. In this system, the micro-controller based system is used to control the irrigation system. Different kinds of sensors are used to analyse rain and moisture. To make it more precise and efficient, the PH content and the nitrogen content of the soil can monitor in its expanded version.

Arduino board which receives the data from the sensors. The program for sensing and also receiving the data are embedded in the Arduino board. After it receives the values, it will check for the soil moisture level and compare it with the pre-set threshold level. If the soil moisture level is below the threshold level, the Arduino board which is connected to the relay board triggers the pump. If the soil moisture level equals the threshold level it will switch off the pump. A program is executed in the Arduino to transfer the data to the cloud storage through Wi-Fi terminal. The cloud storage will receive the data and stores and provide updates as message to user’s mobile app.

The moisture sensor and rain sensors are the main inputs to the micro-controller. A real time clock provides the clock time to the controller for irrigation. The irrigation stops on rainy days with the help of moisture sensor and rain sensor. The solenoid valve works as per the instructions from the micro-controller.
